Linguaglossa and “a Muntagna”
Linguaglossa is a municipality located on the north side of the Etna Park. The town is situated at 500 m.a.s.l. but its surroundings stretch as far as the volcano peak.
The town’s economy is based on wine making and hazelnut production. Linguaglossa is also a hiking and skiing destination thanks to its strategic positioning: it is the starting point for the “Mareneve” (literally “Seasnow”) road which, after crossing the Ragabo pinewood, leads up to 1800 m.a.s.l. where the Piano Provenzana ski station is located.
The historical monuments in the town, its countless churches and murales deserve a mention, as well as the Incorpora museum.
Linguaglossa is the gateway to the north side of Etna, a must visit for those who wish to have an experience on the most active volcano in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage site
